DIY Pinch grip trainer variations

Variation on Pinch grip trainer.
Variation on grip trainer with eye bolt.
My pinch grip trainer is evolving. My original required me to re-tie the weights.
Both of these utilize a thing I bought at Wal-mart, a forearm developer to carry the weights.
The problem I've found out with the forearm developer, the weight carry portion has a large nut at the bottom which creates indents in the rubber mat. So far I enjoy the device though.

What I need to train to get to V3 status consistently

Lock-offs
Crimps
How will this be done? On the days I cannot make it to the gym or after, I will develop my crimp strength (with my distal phalanges). To do this I will use my new and improved weighted climbing holds attached to a 2x4 piece of wood. I will also incorporate dead hangs. Lock-off training can be done with variety but I will be emphasizing the lock-off and reach with other arm. I will have to update when more "SMART" goals to enhance progression.

Pinch Grip Trainer

1.5" and 3.5"
Pinch Grip Trainer
  • Pinch Grip with the L/R 3 x 60 sec
  • First set: using the 1.5" pinch grip
  • 2nd and 3rd set: using 3.5"pinch grip
  • Current weight: 10 lbs
  • Goal: To increase Pinch Grip strength
  • Thoughts: Since this is the beginning of adding this to my exercise program, it is reasonable to treat this as my neuromuscular education phase. In one week (June 14th, 2015), I will progress the weight higher. It seems logical to aim for my long term goal (LTG) as being able to pinch grip half my body weight with my L/R arms.
  • BW/2= 165 lbs /2= 82.5 lbs on each arm
  • LTG: I will be able to pinch grip 82.5 lbs with the L/R arm for 60 seconds.
  • References: I adapted this tool from this person's site http://theweakmachine.com/?category=climbing
